So much truth in these words. In the midst of darkness, light will always shine through. This past weekend in Nova Scotia, we’ve had sunshine with -30°C windchills, a snow day, then +10°C & rain. All in 72 hours. The time was also filled with warmth and coziness, good food, hugs, and candlelight. So, even in the darkness, there is light… there is hope… there is love… there is gratitude.
Today is Winter Solstice, a magical time of year. This day holds more significance for me than January 1. It symbolizes the return of the light, an awakening, a new rhythm as another cycle is complete and we transition from the darkness to the light. The sunlight starts to fill more hours in the day, yet the cold weather and early evenings invite us to hibernate and go inward.
I look back at this past year as one of transformation and courage. Today also brings to light a project that has been building for months – a transformation of my website. I had wanted to start writing a blog for years, and finally took the plunge this year to help make my website “blog ready!” It takes a village not only to help raise children, but to help with the creation of my website! My deep gratitude to my friends John and Michelle for being my photography angels; to Denis and Krista for their time and advice in helping me edit my words; and to my friend Lionel, graphic designer and webmaster extraordinaire – I am extremely grateful for his time, creativity, and patience. ♥
Today, on Solstice, throughout this holiday season, and in 2017, I invite you to let your light shine in your lives and into the lives of those around you. Thank you all for being part of my world. May your 2017 be filled with light, courage to face the dark moments, and love. ♥
